Made in Ibarra, Ecuador
No two dresses are the same — that's not a marketing line, it's a side effect of how they're made.
Dyes & Craft

The Process
Every floral detail starts as a blank piece of fabric and a brush. There's no printer, no screen, no repeat pattern run a thousand times identical. An artisan in our family's workshop paints each dress by hand, working freehand from a reference — which means the placement, the pressure, the exact curve of a petal shifts slightly from piece to piece. You're not buying a print of a painting. You're buying the painting.
Sketch to Paint
It's slower than printing. A lot slower. But it's the only way to get something that actually looks hand-made, because it is.

The Dyes
The color is applied using non-toxic dyes that bond directly to the fabric fibers — nothing harsh, nothing that sits on top of the fabric waiting to crack or flake. It holds up fine in a machine wash when it needs to; we've tested it. That said, we still recommend a gentle hand wash to keep the painted detail looking its sharpest for longer. Either way, the color stays part of the fabric for the life of the dress, and breaks down naturally right along with it.

Why We Still Do It This Way
Fashion moved to digital printing decades ago because it's faster and cheaper. We didn't, because faster and cheaper was never really the point. UTKU exists to keep techniques like this alive — the ones that take longer, that require an actual skilled hand, that can't be automated without losing what makes them worth having in the first place.
