Softer Than
Cashmere

One of the rarest fibres on earth, hand-knit in the Andes. Impossibly soft, warm without any of the bulk.

The Andean highlands, where it begins

“Baby” alpaca has nothing to do with baby animals. It's the first shearing of a young alpaca, the finest, softest fleece it'll ever grow. You get it exactly once. That's the whole reason it's special, really.

~20 microns thin. Right alongside cashmere for fineness, and well below ordinary wool.

The Rarest Thing We Make

Each young alpaca gives up this grade of fleece exactly once, and only so much of it. You can't rush it, farm it harder, or fake it. That scarcity isn't a sales pitch, it's just how the fibre works.

Every piece is hand-knit in the Andean highlands by communities who've worked this fibre for generations. Hours go into a single one.

What It's Actually Like To Wear

Scored out of five, and yeah, it does well on almost everything.

We scored itch factor low on purpose, alpaca's smooth fibre means basically no prickle.

Softer Than Cashmere, And Here's The Proof

Softness comes down to how fine each fibre is, measured in microns. Baby alpaca sits right in cashmere territory and well under standard wool. But here's the part people don't expect: alpaca fibre is smooth and scale-light, with no lanolin, so it lies flat against the skin instead of prickling. Fine on paper, even softer once it's actually on you.

Finer Is Softer

Fibre Diameter, By Microns

The thinner the fibre, the softer the feel. Shorter bar means finer fibre.

Standard wool~30 µm
Merino~22 µm
Baby alpaca~20 µm
Cashmere~19 µm

Typical ranges, real fibres vary by animal and grade. Baby alpaca rivals cashmere for fineness, and its smoother, scale-light fibre is why it can feel even softer on skin.

Warm Without The Weight

Alpaca regulates temperature without bulk, warm when it's cold, never heavy or stifling. It naturally resists odour, lightly repels water, and gets softer with every wear instead of wearing out.

It's the most expensive material we work with, and we make it in small batches on purpose. Wash it gently, dry it flat, and it'll outlast almost anything else in your closet.

Nothing Else
Comes Close.
