The softest fleece an alpaca gives, and it only gives it once.

89% baby alpaca — from the first shearing, before the fibre coarsens with age. Warmer than merino, lighter than cashmere, and it won't pill the way regular wool does. The 11% acrylic is structural: it's what holds the shape past year one, not there to cut cost.

Hand-knit by artisan partners across different communities in Ecuador — the tag on yours names who made it, and which community depends on the batch.

Fit: Relaxed, unisex — size up for oversized

I am deeply impressed by Utku’s commitment to quality and values. The sweater I purchased at a Christmas market is beautifully made, soft, and comfortable—even though I am usually unable to wear wool. It has proven to be the perfect garment for our Manitoba winter, and the vibrant orange shade is truly lovely. What makes Utku exceptional is not only the craftsmanship but also the mission behind the brand. Utku supports Indigenous communities and women artisans in Ecuador through long‑term, fair trade partnerships that provide secure, dignified wages. Each piece is created with intention, honouring generations of tradition while embracing the principles of slow fashion, transparency, and cultural preservation. My favourite detail of all is the tag: it carries the photo of the woman who knitted the garment. This simple yet powerful gesture beautifully honours the artisans and makes the connection between maker and wearer deeply meaningful. Utku is more than clothing—it is a way to preserve culture, empower communities, and wear something that truly matters.

Hands down the best sweater I’ve ever owned! I wasn’t sure what to expect from baby alpaca wool, but I’m beyond impressed. This sweater feels lightweight but keeps me incredibly warm, even on chilly Winnipeg nights.
